Wired Ladies began
when two friends in northern Minnesota, who both enjoyed crafts,
began making their own beads for use in their jewelry. Because their
products are manufactured by hand, each one is unique, even when
ordering multiples of the same piece.

I'm
Sherry Gilstad and wired lady fits me well! Not only do I like
working with wire, I love my coffee! I've always said I didn't
know
what I wanted to be when I grew up and now that I have discovered
my love of working with clay, glass and wire, I guess I'm grown up!
I'm married to
John, who is a funeral director and a great artist (in his spare
time). We have three children and a grandson. John and the kids
have all worked in some way for us.
Besides playing
with clay, I love antiques (I have many collections) and reading.
Thank goodness for books on tape! I love making our beads and look
forward to keep making our pins for many years to come!

I was born and raised in Brainerd, Minnesota. I grew up in a home
where art was appreciated and my mom was always painting. I went
to Macalester College and graduated with a degree in art and a license
to teach. During those years I worked in the schools and experimented
with many art forms, including stained glass and polymer clay. Both
of these mediums can involve brilliant colors and a means to make
functional pieces of art, such as windows or jewelry. Making beads
out of clay or glass can be both therapeutic and exciting.
I currently teach art in Crookston, Minnesota. I have two grown kids
and two grandchildren that I like to spend time with whenever possible.
We hope you enjoy
them as much as we do!!
